Terms of service

Last updated: 2026-09-13

By creating an account or using Grademap (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The provider and contact address are shown at the top of this page.

1. The Service

Grademap is an academic companion that lets you record classes, assessments and grades, plan study, and view projections and “what-if” scenarios. It is a personal planning tool, not an official academic record.

2. Not an official record — accuracy

Grades, averages, classifications, and projections shown in Grademap are estimates based on the data you enter and are for guidance only. They are not provided by, endorsed by, or a substitute for your educational institution’s official records. Always rely on your institution for authoritative grades and degree outcomes. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any calculation or projection.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and capable of forming a binding contract to use the Service.

4. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly about any unauthorised use. You agree to provide accurate account information.

Your username and display name are visible to other users, which is how buddy requests work. Your grades are never shown to anyone else.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the academic data, notes, files and feedback you enter (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display Your Content solely to operate the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy. You are responsible for Your Content and must have the right to enter it — including the right to upload any lecture material or document you attach.

We do not use Your Content to train AI models, and the AI provider we use does not train on it either.

6. Grademap Pro

Everything needed to run your academic year is free. Pro is an optional paid subscription that adds the AI features and more file storage.

  • Sold through Paddle. Paddle.com Market Limited is the merchant of record for every Grademap Pro purchase. Paddle handles the payment, the receipt, the tax, and any refund. Your purchase is therefore also subject to Paddle’s own terms, and Paddle — not Grademap — is who you are buying from.
  • Prices include VAT where it applies, and are shown before you pay.
  • Renewal. Pro renews automatically each month or each year until you cancel. The renewal date is shown in the app.
  • Cancelling. You can cancel at any time through Paddle’s customer portal, reachable from the app. Pro then keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid for, and the account continues on the free tier afterwards. Nothing you have created is deleted because a subscription ended.
  • Statutory cancellation rights. If you are a consumer, you may have a 14-day right to cancel a purchase. Because Pro is a digital service supplied immediately, that right can be lost once supply begins with your consent. Paddle asks for that consent at checkout and handles refund requests.
  • Price changes will be notified before they take effect, and you may cancel rather than accept them.

7. The AI allowance

Pro includes a monthly allowance of AI queries, subject to fair use.

If an account reaches the allowance in a given month, the AI features pause until the first of the next month. Everything else in Grademap keeps working, including everything that is free. We may adjust the allowance, and will say so in the app if we do.

We may also pause AI features for an account that is using them in an automated or abusive way, as described in §9.

8. Limits on accounts and storage

To keep the Service working for everyone, accounts have limits:

  • Storage. 250 MB on the free tier and 5 GB with Pro, with a maximum of 25 MB for any single file.
  • Structure. There are reasonable upper limits on how many years, semesters, classes, pieces of work, notes, materials and flashcards one account can hold. They are set far above normal use. The app tells you before you reach one, rather than failing when you do.

We may change these limits. If a change would reduce what your account already holds, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to export or delete.

9. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service; reverse-engineer or scrape it; use it unlawfully; or upload content that infringes anyone’s rights.

On the AI features specifically. They exist to help you study, understand feedback, plan your time and test yourself. You must not use them to produce work that you submit as your own. Your institution’s rules on academic misconduct apply to you regardless of what this Service makes possible, and following these Terms is not a defence to breaking them. You are responsible for what you submit.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

10. Availability and changes

We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service. We aim for reliable availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Where a change materially reduces what a paid subscription provides, we will tell subscribers in advance.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent permitted by law, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of projections. Nothing in this section affects the statutory rights of a consumer.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for academic, financial or other decisions made in reliance on the Service.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time, in Settings. Deleting your account cancels any live subscription, removes your uploaded files, and deletes your data — immediately and permanently, as described in the Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms. If we terminate an account with a paid subscription other than for breach, we will refund the unused part of the period paid for.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK or the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email, and continued use after that means you accept them.
